Elsie’s Senior Session at Reynold’s Pond in Bend, Oregon

Of all the session types I offer, seniors are probably my favorite. Why?

There’s something about the simplicity of working with a single person, getting to know them, hearing about their dreams and being able to take their portrait. Being able to connect one on one with a subject is fairly rare in my line or work, so when I get the chance, it’s a lot of fun.

Elsie is an introvert, much like me, so we connected on things introverts like- tv shows, books, and just generally being a teenager (which I actually was at one point a while back). It’s fun to revisit that period of time in my own life when getting to know a senior, just because it’s a time unlike any other in your life. You’re still living at home, and yet, the options for your future are so numerous it can feel overwhelming at times. It’s a really interesting in-between time, and I love hearing all about it.

If you’re planning a session for your senior (or maybe you’re a senior reading this) my best advice is to choose a photographer you think will be relatable to your kid. Oh, and let them wear whatever they want (for at least half of the session!) so they can truly express themselves with these photos!
