No stress, no forcing anything. You get to just be you, and it’s our job to give you great photos.

The best way to get any kid to take a great photo is to make the photography a secondary part of the session experience. Our sessions are fun, light and playful. We spend time talking with teens about their hobbies and favorite movies, and play peekaboo with babies. It’s the gentle give and take of a session that gives me the results we are looking for: natural, relaxed family portraits.

We like to think we “get kids”, and they seem to “get” us. For parents, it’s immediately a relief when their kids are actually having fun rather than being miserable during their session.

Life goes by so fast, we help families hang on to those precious moments in time. It’s our absolute joy to follow families through life and watch kids grow up year after year.

FAQs

Where should we shoot?

If you don’t have a shoot location in mind already, that’s okay! We have tons of suggestions for every age group, lighting scenario, and area of Central Oregon. We’ll help you find a spot that works well for your family! There’s no shortage of beautiful spots to shoot in Central Oregon, but more important than location is the people in the photos, so try not to prioritize location over your comfort or logistical needs.

What should we wear?

We usually suggest finding a color palette that you like on Pinterest and having everyone in the family dress within that color palette. You don’t want everyone to be “matchy-matchy,” but you want there to be a good color theme. This technique is especially helpful when trying to coordinate a large family session with extended family members.

Avoid super bright colors or intense patterns. If it’s cold, try to dress appropriately for the weather, especially with little ones.

What should we expect from our session?

Sessions are 1 hour, but some families need a little bit more or a little bit less, depending on the ages of the kiddos and their mood that day. We keep our sessions super relaxed and playful, and we don’t force kids to do things they don’t want to do. Rather, we allow them to guide us in what will work well for them that day. We have a lot of tricks up our sleeves to help get smiles and natural moments documented.

What if my child doesn’t smile?

We have a lot of things we can try from fake fart noises to puppets to corny jokes, depending on the age of your kiddo, but sometimes, they just don’t have a smile in them to give that day, and that’s okay. Through the years, we’ve noticed that the harder parents try to get their kids to smile, the less likely they are to do it (or to do it naturally). Kids sense our stress, so we try not to force anything during my sessions, and 99% of the time, we get natural smiles by the end.

When Will i receive my images?

Images will be delivered to you via online gallery within 2 weeks of your shoot, sometimes sooner but never later. During the holidays we usually do quicker turnarounds, so families can have their holiday cards sent out in time.

What is the best time of day to shoot?

Sunset is our favorite time of day to shoot, but it doesn’t work for many younger kids and babies. For younger ones, we recommend shooting earlier in the morning (before 10am) for the best lighting, but we can make most times of day work.

Some locations lend themselves better to midday shoots, so we’ll talk through what locations would work best for your family’s schedule.
