Steph and Kyle are Having a Baby: a Bend, Oregon Maternity Session
You guys! This is a special one for me. I didn’t know Steph or Kyle before they hired us to shoot their wedding as Gallivan Photo a few years back. It wasn’t long before they went from clients, to people we call friends. What can I say? Steph and I have a similar sense of humor and obsession with our old dogs, Kyle and my husband Tim are both shy types. We got each other.
Steph and Kyle went on a journey to bring their son into the world, and I wanted to celebrate nearing the end of one journey, and the start of another by taking some photos of this moment in time. We met up at Reynolds Pond which is a few miles east of Bend, Oregon. It’s my favorite spot, and you’ll find a lot of photos taken there in my blog/portfolio.
Maternity sessions feel like an unnecessary extra for some (I admit, I almost didn’t take them myself), but in the end, I think most people find a special place in their hearts for those final few months when it was just the two of them (and a bump, of course). There’s something really special about being able to love someone you haven’t met yet, and spending most of your time dreaming about who they will be.
Not to mention, our bodies don’t feel like our own at 34 weeks. I remember my maternity session feeling like the first time I felt beautiful in months. It ended up being a really empowering experience for me, and a sweet collection of photos for our family.
If you’re on the fence about having maternity photos taken, I can tell you, you won’t regret it, in the end.
